Britney Experience

1) what do you think you learnt from the Britney planning, filming and editing experience? It could be specific things about making the music video OR general things about the production process.
I.e. in terms of planning, time management, how long it takes to film one shot! how long it takes to edit a few seconds of footage, what role you were good at etc, lip synching etc to name a few
What I have learnt from the Britney experience was that we have to plan our time more wisely as it takes a lot longer than I first expected to take each clip as we would have been lucky to get two good standard shots done and completed within the hour, therefore for future reference we will plan in more detail and now we know roughly how long it will take as we can encounter problems along the way. Filming various clips became a struggle at certain times as the lighting varied all the time, some people were absent from the group or we only had the one chance to take that specific shot otherwise we had to wait till our next lesson or free time to film the clip also we had to  work with some reluctant people which didn’t want to perform in the specific part of the music video which made it hard for us to film that clip and it put us behind schedule as we had to find someone different for the next time we were ready to film again. The editing experience was that to get everything perfect in time with each clip and to run in sync was that the real clip was needed to put into the editing to help give us a guideline. Cutting the different clips to make them the exact time took a while as I had to keep watching the clip over and over comparing with the real Britney clip to make sure I had made it precise as 5 seconds of clip would take about 5 minutes to cut to its exact length where as lip-syncing took a lot longer as the sound is in the background and the video had to be timed perfectly to sync with the sound and not out of time. My role was to help guide the people acting what they may need to do better or direct them in where they need to be positioned so they the clip would be better. I was used to act in a couple of the scenes as they needed males to be in that specific scene.

2) For you, what part of the process did you enjoy the most?
The process that I enjoyed the most was the filming as it meant that we got to see people acting in different ways which was a good laugh for everyone and we saw the clips all coming together. I enjoyed this because I was involved in specific parts of it but I was also left out of it as i wasn’t needed but when this occurred I helped in any way that I could to help positioning or just memory of the real clip to make sure we videoed our remake of that specific clip correctly.

3) How do you think the work you have done will impact on your group project?
The work that I did made an impact on the groups project as I helped with the planning of our time and shots per lesson and to help direct people on how each shot was meant to be by memory and just reminding people in my group what shot it was and how it was going to run into the next clip.

4) What were your particular strengths?
I feel that my particular strengths were to help organise where people had to go in each clip and to help with planning our time efficiently with each shot although because we were in-experience we wasn’t sure how long each shot would take and therefore we were behind schedule but once we got into the filming we got back on track and we were capable of keeping track and we were coping fine. As I didn’t have a specific role within my group I had free time so when someone needed some help on filming or editing i was there to hand and help support them or direct them in any way that I could.
